Move over, George Clooney, there’s a new dashing actor in town, and his name is Jason Segel. The Muppets star — and iVillage’s pick for sexiest man alive! — told Vanity Fair that except for a few minor differences he and Clooney are basically the same person.
“With the exception that he’s way better looking and way more talented than me, I’m the new Clooney,” Segel joked.
His comment is in jest, but the two do have more similarities than one would imagine. Both started off in television (Segel on Freaks and Geeks and How I Met Your Mother, Clooney on Facts of Life and ER); have had high-profile romances (for Segel, this includes Linda Cardellini, Michelle Trachtenberg and Chloe Sevigny); and enjoy a host of bromances with other A-list stars (Jonah Hill, Judd Apatow, Paul Rudd for Segel; Matt Damon, Brad Pitt, and Steven Soderbergh for Clooney, to name just a few).
Segel, 32, also talked about how happy he is for Hill, who’s up for a best supporting actor Academy Award.
“What’s really cool, and it really is true — it’s not lip service — is that our little group has really managed to stay together,” Segel says, referring to his circle of comedic friends. “Every time one of us does something, there’s a text from everyone else in the group, like, ‘Hey, congratulations!’ And as silly as it sounds, it means a lot.”
